My name is Risa. I'm 24 years old and live in Boca Raton, Florida. I have battled with my weight since I was about 6 years old, and for the last couple years, I was finally winning the fight. But I slipped, gaining back 36lbs from my lowest weight in ages. Now I'm buckling down again to shed the weight so I can look on the outside the way I feel on the inside. But the road isn't always straight and smooth. For more information on my life-long weight loss journey, please view my first post here. This blog exists for me, to keep me on track and motivated. If you don't like personal posts or personal opinions, you took the wrong fork at Albuquerque!

Honestly, when I was running my half-marathon, the kids standing on the side waiting for high fives was such a motivation boost!
I would see them standing on the side with their hands in the air just waiting with huge smiles! And people would ignore them and just past them.
I would cross over to whatever side the kids were on (which is difficult when there are 32,000+ running the race) and make sure I got every kid that came out early that morning just to cheer on strangers

Do you ever eat something and immediately regret it?

I gotta get all of these temptations out of the house.

I always think I have enough self control. But I don’t. Not yet. I’m working on it, but I need to give myself every advantage. I know my weaknesses, and I just can’t afford to expose myself to them.

More badass Olympic Weightlifters.  Such an inspiration.

(Aylin Dasdelen from Turkey, Joanna Lochowska from Poland, Julia Rohde from Germany, Aleksandra Klejnowska-Krzywanska from Poland, Yuliya Kalina from Ukraine, Luz Mercedes Acosta Valdez from Mexico, Sibel Simsek from Turkey, Lidia Valentin Perez from Spain)

esc-ism:

So, this started as something that I was writing mainly for the sake of getting it out of my head, but I thought it deserved to be in visual form, and it turned into this comic type thing (waaay longer than I expected it to be, too).  Clearly it’s intensely personal and different from anything I usually make or post, but I wanted to get it out there. It’s my own experience, of course, but I wrote in in plural form for a good reason: this could be anyone.

{EDIT: no one needs that long wine-induced rant, just know it was about how society is bullshit, etc]

Don’t wait for someone else to tell you that you’re beautiful to believe it. Fucking tell yourself. Do things because you want to, wear makeup if it makes you happy, wear whatever the fuck you want simply because you want to, indulge, and destroy anyone who tells you otherwise.

This post is beautiful.
