My name is Risa. I'm 24 years old and live in Boca Raton, Florida. I have battled with my weight since I was about 6 years old, and for the last couple years, I was finally winning the fight. But I slipped, gaining back 36lbs from my lowest weight in ages. Now I'm buckling down again to shed the weight so I can look on the outside the way I feel on the inside. But the road isn't always straight and smooth. For more information on my life-long weight loss journey, please view my first post here. This blog exists for me, to keep me on track and motivated. hey so i recently went on a community service trip to ecuador and i lost a lot of weight and really got in shape while i was there. now that i'm home i dont have the same exercise opportunities that i had there and i'm worried i'm going to gain it all back. i was wondering if you had any advice for me? i don't really know much about working out and nutrition but i am trying to learn.

You don’t have to do the same workouts and eat the same foods you did there. Find what you can do at home! Join a gym or take up jogging. Do weight training exercises with household objects, or perhaps look into exercise videos. There are tons of exercises and exercise videos you can find on Google or Tumblr. As for nutrition, it’s a matter of maintenance vs. weight loss. If you want to maintain your weight but keep a fit shape, use a BMR calculator to determine how many calories your body uses in a day to function. Eat that many calories. On days when you workout, eat back the calories you burn so that your total (eaten minus burned off) equals your BMR. That’s how you maintain. If you’re trying to lose, follow the same concept, except aim for 500 calories less than what your BMR is. This creates a deficit that accommodates safe and healthy weight loss. Check out the food pyramid for nutritional balance. :)
