My name is Risa. I'm 24 years old and live in Boca Raton, Florida. I have battled with my weight since I was about 6 years old, and for the last couple years, I was finally winning the fight. But I slipped, gaining back 36lbs from my lowest weight in ages. Now I'm buckling down again to shed the weight so I can look on the outside the way I feel on the inside. But the road isn't always straight and smooth. For more information on my life-long weight loss journey, please view my first post here. This blog exists for me, to keep me on track and motivated. If you don't like personal posts or personal opinions, you took the wrong fork at Albuquerque!

Think about it: when’s the last time you got your mall food from two different stands? (Not counting getting a dessert after your meal.) For most people, it just doesn’t cross their minds.

Eating right after a long workout session has its problems (actually, research on when to eat relative to your workout is highly split and controversial), but a little metabolism “wake up call” like this can be beneficial and a great time to work in those few minutes of exercise you’ve been dodging. ESPN research also shows that following up exercise with a protein-rich meal can help tremendously in building muscle. Remember: muscles help you burn more fat throughout the day. You WANT muscle!

Decided to start doing weight loss tips. I think I’ll make it a tip of the week thing, but I may do it more or less often. Here’s the first! :)

Reblogging myself because it is one of my favorite bits of diet advice ever, and I stand by it. :)

Diet tricks that do and don't work.

Click the title for the article with full info.

Try It:

 • Fill up on fiber.
 • Pack in the protein, but do it properly.
 • Snack before exercise.
 • Diet soda, limited to 1 can a day. (I don’t buy that. I’d say cut it completely if you can.)
 • Chug water.
 • Controlled quantities of caffeine.
 • Cut portions.
 • Chew sugar-free gum.
 • Eating frozen meals that are under 500 calories.

Skip It:

 • “Cleansing” your system.
 • Skipping meals.
 • Taking laxatives.
 • Using diuretics.
 • Quaffing ice water.

“Tricks” that don’t really help or hurt:

 • Grapefruit.
 • Making your food spicier.
 • Cutting out carbohydrates. (Really? I gotta disagree with that one. There’s proof against that. Eliminating carbs, sure, but reducing them definitely helps.)
